Zack Snyder and Netflix teaming on on epic sci-fi movie Rebel Moon

July 7th, 2021 by Marc Comments

Hot on the heels of the massive success of Army of the Dead on Netflix, Zack Snyder and the streamer have announced their second collaborative effort.

Snyder has revealed that he will co-write an epic sci-fi adventure called Rebel Moon – he is also set to direct it.

The other writers are Army’s Shay Hatten and Kurt Johnstad who penned 300. Once again Snyder will produce with his wife Deborah Snyder .

The story is set in motion when a peaceful colony on the edge of the galaxy is threatened by the armies of a tyrannical regent named Balisarius. Desperate people dispatch a young woman with a mysterious past to seek out warriors from neighboring planets to help them make a stand.

“This is me growing up as an Akira Kurosawa fan, a Star Wars fan,” Snyder said. “It’s my love of sci-fi and a giant adventure. My hope is that this also becomes a massive IP and a universe that can be built out.”

The plot is based on an idea Snyder once had for Star Wars and, under Lucas, it almost went to series: “I’ve spent the last two or three years building out this universe. Every corner has to be painted in. I’ve been doing designs, constantly drawing and really cultivating its fertile ground to make this world fully realized.”

At the time I’d have thought that had as good of odds as you’d get at the best online casino USA, but alas, it wasn’t to be.

Word is that Snyder and Netflix are hoping that, like Army of the Dead, Rebel Moon will be a massive IP with the potential for a massive universe of content and that’s a safe bet, just like at real money online casinos.

Snyder hopes to start filming early next year: “I’ve been working on this on the side for so long, it’s pretty far along.”

While I didn’t love Army of the Dead as much as I hoped/expected, I am a fan of Snyder’s work and will be looking forward to this one.

Will you? Let me know…

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
