Zod that! Is Man of Steel star Michael Shannon close to signing on as Deadpool 2’s Cable?

March 22nd, 2017 by Marc Comments

He may have made his mark on the comic book movie world as Zod in Man of Steel, but it looks like Michael Shannon may be set to take on another massive – and highly anticipated role.

That of Cable in Deadpool 2 and the future X-Force movie(s).

THR are reporting that the actor is, while not the only choice, the frontrunner for FOX in their search for Cable in the Deadpool sequel: “Shannon isn’t the only one on the studio’s list but is leading the pack as the top choice at this stage. Stranger Things actor David Harbour is also on the shortlist (we reported that here). Kyle Chandler’s name surfaced last summer but sources say he was never in contention for the role.”

In the comics Cable, was co-created by Deadpool co-creator Rob Liefeld and writer Louise Simonson, was from the future and was the adult of Scott Summers, also known as the X-Man Cyclops.

The producers of the movie said recently that the casting news would come soon, so we have to assume that – not necessarily Shannon – they’re close to a choice at this stage.
