With another Star Wars Celebration event drawing to a close, fans were treated to a sneak peek of what to expect when The Force Awakens rolls on to the big screens in December.
Undoubtedly one of the reveals which was given the warmest reception was the arrival of new droid on the block BB-8 on stage, proving once and for all that the little ball-bot was in fact a practical effect.
And then unanimously, a million fans cried out “I want one.” – And they’ve now suddenly been silenced.
According to Polygon, Sphero will be working on a BB-8 toy, which has been hinted on their website. No word on a release date or price yet but rumours suggest that it will retail at $150 with a projected release date of September 1st. Imagine that – we could be seeing The Force Awakens merchandise in shops 3 months before the movie is due to be released! I guess it’s true what they say – Christmas does come earlier every year!
