Well Star Wars fans, new merchandise for The Force Awakens will be coming soon to a galaxy near you. Or at least your local comic, toy and Disney Store retailer.

Fans of collecting all the collectible goodness will only have to wait four more months. New merchandise associated with the seventh chapter in the Star Wars saga will be hitting stores on September fourth, with many retailers the globe over opening for a midnight release of the products.

“Every lightsaber, every action figure, every LEGO set tells a story for generations of Star Wars fans, and this global event is a celebration of those stories. We’re excited to be part of the countdown to this enormous movie moment,” said Josh Silverman, executive vice president, global licensing, Disney Consumer Products.

We also got a first look at the packaging for the line of toys for The Force Awakens, sporting a villainous looking Kylo Ren, sure to be the breakout new character from episode 7.

However, if toys aren’t your bag you can also pick from a plethora of merchandise, including books and comics, apparel, ebooks and apps as well as many gadgets, trinkets, nick nacks and…erm…paddy whacks.

Fans hitting retailers for the initial drop of Star Wars: The Force Awakens merchandise are encouraged to use social media to make friends and family either jealous or annoyed at your grown ass buying toys (We all have that family member. Just deal with it, mom!) using the hashtags #ForceFridays and #MidnightMadness.

Undoubtedly our main man Saxon will be on the case with more news and reviews as the new line of goodies drop, so stick with FTN nerds and nerdettes.

Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
