Peggy Carter is coming to Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D!
Entertainment Weekly has confirmed that Hayley Atwell is set to appear in the season premiere of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Atwell first appeared as the SSR agent and Captain America’s love interest in The First Avenger, before making a brief cameo again in The Winter Soldier in heavy old lady makeup. Details on Atwell’s appearance are currently under wraps. It’s unclear whether she’ll appear in flashback or if she’ll again be made up to look 60 years older.
Her appearance on the series is likely a sort of backdoor pilot towards Agent Carter, which follows Peggy in the post-War world after Cap’s disappearance. Atwell joins previously announced guest stars Lucy Lawless, Reed Diamond, Nick Blood and Patrick Wade, among others.
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. returns on 23 September. Agent Carter will debut later this year.
