We’ve known for a while now that AMC have been developing an ongoing series based on Anne Rice’s Vampire Chronicles (here), including novels such as Interview with the Vampire, Queen of the Damned, Prince Lestat and more.
And honestly, we’re pretty excited by the idea. Rices’ novels chronicle a massive world of vampires and monsters that is so much more than just sex and scares and, while we loved Neil Jordan’s Interview movies in 1994 (Tom Cruise will be a tough act to follow as Lestat), we’ve always thought that it’s more of a universe than a couple of movies.
Now we’ve learned that kicking off the already greenlit Chronicles multi-series will be the eight-part Interview with the Vampire series which we’ve learned will star Australian actor Sam Reid as Lestat de Lioncourt.
The actor is best known for his work on The Newsreader and Prime Suspect 1973.
The Interview With the Vampire series will be written and executive produced by Emmy nominee Rolin Jones, who is also showrunner. It will be executive produced by Oscar winner Mark Johnson, creator Anne Rice and Christopher Rice.
It is expected to debut in 2022 on AMC and AMC+.
Evil is a point of view. We are immortal.
