Andor Season 2 filming this Fall says star

February 8th, 2022 by Marc Comments

While we’re all very excited for the return of The Mandalorian later this year and we can’t wait to see Ahsoka’s live-action series, we feel that one show a lot of people are sleeping on is Andor.

Charting the rise of the rebellion in the Star Wars universe through the eyes of Diego Luna’s Cassian Andor, from the movie Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Andor promises a dark look at what the rebellion really is, how it came about – and the dirty deeds it did to get there – and it will have some heavy spy undertones to it.

Personally, Rogue One is a movie I love more and more as I watch it, so I can’t wait to see a more morally-ambiguous take on the rebellion… we all know they had to do some foul stuff too, right?

We learned a while back that Forest Whittaker’s Saw Guerra will be returning as too will Ben Mendelsohn’s sniveling Orson Krennic (here), so or excitement levels are through the roof.

Now, we also learned that the plan for Andor is a three-season run, meaning the series has a lot of story to tell and hopefully will eventually see Alan Tudyk’s return as Andor’s loyal friend K2-So, as teased by the actor a while back (here) and, given that season one is 12 episodes, this is going to be a big adventure.

Yes, please.

And, although it hasn’t aired yet, it seems that Season 2 is set to film this fall.

Actor Stellan Skarsgard, who appears in Andor, has confirmed that, even though they don’t know whe it’s et to air season one, season 2 is prepping now.

“We start with Dune 2 in July,” the star says, “And then in the autumn, it’s time for the second season of the Star Wars series Andor.”

He goes on: “I do not know when they will start broadcasting it. It will take some time, so that it does not take too long between season one and season two.”

We know that that damned virus caused issues with the filming of Season 1, so hopefully, with the world returning to normal, season 2 will be a smoother production.

As for when we can expect to see Andor on Disney+? Well, we have The Book of Boba Fett wrapping tomorrow and Obi-Wan and The Bad Batch Season 2 set for spring/summer, then we expect that The Mandalorian Season 3 will return around Christmas/New Year, so it’s hard to predict when we’ll see Andor on our screens… though we’re still hearing summer.

Whenever it is, we’ll be there on opening night in front of the TV with our Star Wars pajamas on and the snacks ready… it’s just how we role at FTN HQ.

What say you all? Are you excited for Andor? Will you be watching? Let me know what you all think, folks.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
