Earlier, it was reported that ABC and Marvel was in talks to do a spinoff series of Agents of Shield. Those reports are still holding, however, another new thread has come into the fold.
John Ridley, who you may know from 12 Years A slave, has been contracted to make a show for Marvel that “involves reinventing an existing Marvel superhero character or property for ABC.”
The wording is the key part here, “reinventing an existing Marvel superhero” implies that the show will be more focus than AOS or a possible spinoff. Also, it’s very probable that the show will have no connection to AOS at all. It’s very possible that the praise and success of Daredevil has prompted Marvel to try another take on a focused storyline like they did with Agent Carter…which sadly has still not been renewed yet.
We’ll have to see where this all goes.
