We reported a while ago that James Gunn and HBO Max was developing a DC live-action series based on the upcoming The Suicide Squad movie (here).
The series will feature John Cena as Peacemaker and, while not very much is known about the series at this stage, we now know that it looks like he will be joined by at least one more member of the Squad.
Steve Agee has joined the series cast list and, as fans will know, he plays King Shark in the movie. However, while I’m hoping he will be King Shark, it seems he also plays a character in the movie called John Economos, “a warden of Belle Reve Federal Penitentiary and an aide to Viola Davis’ government character Amanda Waller”.
So, anyone want to put bets on which he’ll play in the series? We know HBO Max is putting serious money behind these shows and, given that King Shark appears in The Flash on The CW, it’s certainly not out of the question he couldn’t be reprising the role… and let’s not forget how big a hit King Shark was on the Harley Quinn animated series over on DC Universe.
Agee is no stranger to working with Gunn, having appeared in Super, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 and Brightburn.
Peacemaker will be an eight-episode series which will be written and in part directed by Gunn too.
