Appearing on tonight’s Graham Norton Show, Peter Capaldi, whose final series of Doctor Who begins tomorrow night, surprised viewers with an unseen announcement.
The actor confirmed that all he has left to film is the Christmas Special but has revealed that he has filmed his regeneration scene already. When the actor was asked if the other actor – i.e. the actor who will play the time lord’s next incarnation – was there, the actor seemed hesitant and confirmed he filmed his ‘death’ but also said that the other actor doesn’t necessarily need to be there for the scene.
There was also some banter implying that the next Doctor may still be played by a lady… although there was no confirmation either way.
Asked by host Norton why he left, Capaldi said: “Doctor Who is a great job but it is a TV factory with so many episodes and I would worry that I wouldn’t do my best work with the same vigour and fun.”
So there you have it… has the new Doctor already been cast? We’d have to imagine so. But we could be wrong.
What do you all think?
