Bryan Fuller has a plan for Hannibal’s return and confirms Pushing Daisies season 3 development

Another project we’ve been hoping to see for the last decade, is the continuation of Bryan Fuller’s phenomenal Hannibal series, with author Thomas Harris’ Silence of the Lambs being the next chapter to be adapted for the series.

Fuller has said in the past that he does intend to make it, but wanted to wait a few years to pick up with an older cast to tell the story properly. Well, Mr Fuller, it’s been a decade, let’s get Hannibal and Clarice Starling onscreen together.

Fuller’s hit series was an ongoing adaptation of Harris’ books, with 1981’s Red Dragon, 1999’s Hannibal, and 2006’s Hannibal Rising all having played into the show’s narrative, with the events, which spanned tree season between 2013 and 2015, leading into cannibalist killer Hannibal Lecter’s most famous tale, The Silence of the Lambs.

In a recent interview for Dust Bunny, starring Hannibal himself, Mads Mikkelsen, and being Fuller’s directorial debut on the big screen (and a movie which never got a UK theatrical release), Fuller revealed that he still wants to bring Lecter back and has a vision for what that show would be. In a perfect world.

“My dream project is to do a limited series of The Silence of the Lambs with Mads and Zendaya as Clarice Starling. If I could put anything out into the universe, I would put that into the universe.”

I would never have seen Spider-Man and Dune star Zendaya as Clarice, but given how brilliant the Hannibal series was, I would trust Fuller’s judgment on this one… although, given that she’s currently one of the biggest actresses in the world, I don’t know how likely it would be that she would be down to appear. But I do know that I really, really hope this happens and sooner rather than later.

Hannibal star Dancy not as optimistic about show’s returning as he once was

In related news, Fuller has also revealed that Pushing Daisies, right, his quirky supernatural drama that ran for two season in 2007, starring  Lee Pace as Ned, a pie-maker with the ability to bring dead things back to life with his touch, based on a series of novels also by Thomas Harris, is potentially set for a third season: “Everybody wants to return. The rights are in the process of reverting to Thomas Harris. MGM/Amazon has some. They’re all being navigated in a way that is going to be a little trickier to iron out now.”

Thoughts? I know you have them, and I wanna hear ‘em all.
