I’ll not lie, Under the Dome has been very much on the fringe for me…

I loved King’s book until the final reveal when it took a serious turn for the ‘wut?’ and I enjoyed season one of the CBS show but I didn’t love it. I have all the second and most of the third on my recorder, so I  will certainly watch it. And I guess it’ll be sooner rather than later, given this news as CBS has announced that the show’s final episode will air on Thursday, September 10th.

The premise is a beauty. Written by Stephen King (and yes, it has similarities to The Simpsons Movie) it sees the residents of a small town, Chester’s Mill, waking one morning to find that they have been trapped under an unbreakable, invisible dome. And no-one knows where it came from or what it’s for.

CBS Entertainment Chair Nina Tassler said: “Two years ago, Under the Dome broke new ground in the summer and became an instant hit on CBS, as well as with viewers around the world. Dome’s event storytelling and multi-platform business model paved the way for more original summer programming with the successful roll outs of Extant and Zoo. We’re excited to present the final chapter in Chester’s Mill as the story comes full circle, with the dome coming down as dramatically as it went up.”

Under the Dome’s final episode is called The Enemy Within and is written by Neal Baer & Tim Schlattmann and directed by Peter Leto.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
