It looks like the chasm between Marvel TV and Cinema may be bigger than previously anticipated.
Agents of SHIELD star Chloe Bennet, who plays Daisy Johnson AKA Quake, has become rather vocal about the situation and how she feels that the TV sing is being neglected.
Speaking at Wizard World Des Moines at the weekend, Johnson was asked why none of the big movie characters crossover to the TV shows; her answer was frank: “I don’t know.”
“The people who make movies for Marvel, why don’t you acknowledge what happens on our show? Why don’t you guys go ask them that? Cause they don’t seem to care!”
However, she didn’t stop there. The next question was if she would like to appear in one of the big screen outings: “The Marvel Cinematic Universe loves to pretend that everything is connected, but then they don’t acknowledge our show at all. So, I would love to do that, but they don’t seem to keen on that idea.”
This certainly goes back to the quotes from Joss Whedon when he said the movie guys don’t pay any attention to the TV shows at all and that, as far as they were concerned, Coulson was still dead (here).
Bennett certainly didn’t say anything that many didn’t know but it’s good to know that someone isn’t afraid to say it out loud… maybe now we can hope for the connected universe we all want. Either that of Daisy will be killed off soon…
In a related story, after ABC dropped Agent Carter and didn’t pick up Marvel’s Most Wanted, they have now announced that the show’s time slot will be moved next season.
Season 3 was aired in the US on Tuesdays at 9:00pm and will from now on be at 10:00pm
That time slot is one that notoriously sees dramas fail.
SHIELD was moved from an 8:00pm slot at the start of season two to a 9:00pm one so it could be ‘edgier’ and this is the same reason being given now.
Although many think this may well be the end of the Marvel show.
What do yo think? Is Bennett right and is this the show’s kiss of death?
