We all know that Clara is going to be saying goodbye this series of Doctor Who, but we have no idea how… and the Doctor himself, Peter Capaldi, has said to get ready for a bumpy ride.
Speaking on Nick Grimshaw on BBC Radio 1 yesterday, the actor was all too keen to talk about the exit of his current companion and it seems it got under his skin too: “It’s very sad, really sad. It’s not quite what you think’s going to happen [well] you think what’s going to happen is going to happen, and then something else happens.
“That’s what’s wonderful about Doctor Who. it’s always clever the way these things are done. It’s not quite as straightforward as it appears.”
Just to nail home the idea that it’ll be sad, he added: “Get lots of hankies ready, that’s what I would say. It’s sad over a number of weeks.”
How sad was it really though, Peter? “I don’t usually get very weepy or anything when I’m working, but I found it really sad saying goodbye to her… I still see her, so it’s not like saying goodbye to Jenna in person, but you sort of say goodbye to the character. It becomes the focus of all your emotion and all of the things that perhaps you’d like to say to that person and how wonderful she’s been to me.”
So get ready to be put through the wringer folks, this could be a tough one… though we survived Donna and the rest so we reckon we’re good to go.
In more cheerful, but related news, here’s the awesome Doctor Who intro in the LEGO Dimensions game. We think it’s a genuine thing of beauty:
