We’ve known for a while that HBO Max were developing a prequel animated Gremlins series and now we have our first look and it’s really rather gorgeous.
The series, which has original Gremlins director Joe Dante as a consultant, is called Gremlins: Secrets of the Mogwai and now showrunner Tze Chun has shared an early look at concept art from the series.
The images features Wing – the old shop owner who had Gizmo at the start of the first movie but now as a young boy – with Gizmo (or whatever he’ll be called here) in the streets of Shanghai in the 1920s where the series is set, long before Randall Peltzer (Hoyt Axton) bought Gizmo for his son on Christmas of 1984.
The art is pure Pixar and, hopefully, will represent the final art in the series itself because if it looks this good it has my signed up already.
What do you all think? Let me know…
No word on when the series will air but we’ll keep you up-to-date as and when news breaks.
