With Daredevil set for Netflix next month, we at FTN have been wondering a few things and, high on the list, are how violent it will be and what will the costume really be like?

Well, thankfully, we have a better idea now.

Costume designer, Stephanie Maslansky, has been chatting to Empire Magazine about her work on the show and confirms that it’s not Matt’s own work in the series:  “In the end, somebody else makes his Daredevil costume. What’s really exciting is the evolution of it, and how he comes to have it made.”

The first incarnation, the one we’ve seen a few times now (here) is inspired by Frank Miller’s work and was made from materials Matt could pick up himself according to showrunner  Steven S. DeKnight who says it’s: “practical sports and military wear, restitching garments from companies like McDavid, CAT, and G-Star”.

DeKnight also commented on the violence since comic fans will know that Daredevil is a pretty dark and violent affair: “Netflix, of course, they don’t have a problem with pushing it. I mean, they go anywhere from G to NC-17. But the Marvel brand, that’s a little different. They’re obviously not comfortable going that far with it, though they’ve allowed us to push it much further than you’ve seen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since starting with Iron Man. It is much more geared towards adults. We call it PG-16. We don’t quite get to R, but we kiss right up to it.”

We’re really, really excited to see what this series brings…

Produced by Marvel Television and ABC Studios, with executive producers Steven S. DeKnight (“Spartacus”), Jeph Loeb (“Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.”) and Drew Goddard (The Cabin in the Woods), the full 13-episode season will be made available globally upon release in all territories where Netflix is available. “Marvel’s Daredevil” will premiere all 13 episodes on Netflix April 10.

Starring Charlie Cox (Matt Murdock), Deborah Ann Woll (Karen Page), Elden Henson (Foggy Nelson), Rosario Dawson (Claire Temple), Bob Gunton (Leland Owlsely aka The Owl), Vondie Curtis Hall (Ben Urich), Toby Leonard Moore (Wesley, Wilson Fisk’s right hand man), Ayelet Zurer (Vanessa Fisk), and Vincent D’Onofrio (Wilson Fisk), “Marvel’s Daredevil” follows the journey of Matt Murdock, who was blinded as a young boy but imbued with extraordinary senses, now fighting against injustice by day as a lawyer, and by night as the super hero Daredevil in modern day Hell’s Kitchen, New York City.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
