UPDATED: DC Shopping Supergirl TV Series?

September 5th, 2014 by Todd Black 4 Comments

So, DC is doing it’s best to expand their brand in a lot of aspects. The New 52 allowed them to recapture readers that didn’t want to be bogged down by history. Arrow led the way for the now HUGE DC Television universe, and DC has nine movies coming out in the next 6 years, not the least of which is a SHAZAM! movie with The Rock playing Black Adam.

You’d think they’d settle for that, but you may possibly be wrong.

Bleeding Cool reports that DC is actively pitching a Supergirl TV Series. To be written/produced by longtime DC writer/producer Michael Green. Who has worked on (just for DC) Gotham, Smallville, the Green Lantern movie, and the upcoming Flash movie. Oh, and did I mention he worked on the Supergirl New 52 reboot?

This would be a big movie for DC, as this would be their first female led series since the ill-fated Birds of Prey. And then of course the twice dropped Wonder Woman series called “Amazon”. If this happens, they could possibly beat Marvel to develop a female driven series, as they have plans (and only that for now) to develop a Jessica Jones series for Netflix.

So, what do you think of this? Do you want a Supergirl TV series? Let us know!

More info has come to light regarding the proposed Supergirl TV series.

A report on Wednesday claimed Michael Green of Heroes and Smallville fame was attached as a writer. Dark Horizons have added that Green will not be acting as producer on the series. Instead, Arrow and The Flash co-creator Greg Berlanti and No Ordinary Family Exec Producer Ali Adler are working on the series.

E! Online has confirmed Green’s involvement and claimed that Warner Bros network The CW will not actually screen the series. However, it is being produced by Warner Bros TV, presumably with a view to syndication.

He's written teleplays, fan-fictions, and currently writes a comic book called Guardians (guardians-comic.com). He dreams of working at Nintendo, writing a SHAZAM! TV series, and working on Guardians for a very long time!
