First we had the image from the first table read of season 2 and then we had awesome 80s casting news for the second season and now this!

Director of a few of Season 2’s episodes, Shawn Levy has been chatting about the second season and how’s it’s being approached. First off, will we see the slightly longer nine-episode season 2 by best summer?: “We’re not magicians,” he said, “so there’s no way it launches in Spring since I just admitted we started filming today, and we’re doing nine.”

Levy also confirmed that, like last season, he and the creators, the Duffer brothers, would be directing: “Just like last year, they’re doing 1 and 2, I’m going in and doing 3 and 4. So the first four are gonna kick off exactly the same as last time… I am going to start prepping right around Thanksgiving and I’ll be filming my episodes through December and January.”

This is awesome news. The first season really found its identity and we’re delighted it will be keeping true to its roots this season too… although we hope it steps out of the shadows of ET, Goonies, Poltergiest and all the other classics enough to not feel so much like a loving homage.

Anyway, can we get excited for Season 3 yet?

“We are not gonna be caught off guard and we don’t wanna be making stuff up like the day before we have to write it and make it, so we are definitely optimistic and we have started thinking ahead,” Levy says.

It’s great that they are having a plan so far ahead and won’t be one of these shows that each year feels like they’re just making it up as they go because another season was never part of the plan.

Are you excited for Stranger Things Season 2? Heck, what about Season 3? Let us know strange fans…

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
