Get ready for the new daily show

Extreme Ghostbusters also getting Saturday morning episode releases

February 7th, 2021 by Marc Comments

Did you enjoy the return of the classic Real Ghostbusters series yesterday morning (check details out here)? Well, if so, then there’s more Saturday morning cartoon goodness coming next weekend.

The official Ghostbusters Youtube channel uploaded the first episode of The Real Ghostbusters (here) yesterday in an effort to capture the golden age of Saturday morning cartoons and this weekend, they will begin releasing The Extreme Ghostbusters – so that’s a double dose of Ghostbusters goodness every Saturday morning.

Extreme Ghostbusters was a sequel series to The Real Ghostbusters, introducing a new team of ‘Busters, the show was a wonderful bit of TV but seems to have been slept on by a lot of people, so hopefully, this will help it get the recognition it’s deserved for a long time.

Another plus is that fans in the UK have never had a chance beyond the original airing to have access to the series as it was never all released here on DVD, VHS or Bluray with only a select few episodes getting released – and yes, a lot of it is on youtube at the minute but it’s all poor quality and full of ads etc so this will be a great way to watch clean copies.

Based on the blockbuster films, this action-packed animated series starts a decade after the original Ghostbusters saved New York City. All the guys have left town except for Egon, now teaching a Paranormal Studies class at the local university. But an all-powerful demon has awakened from hibernation to wreak havoc on the unsuspecting masses. Desperate to recruit a new team, Egon and the plucky Janine turn to four of his teenage students Kylie, a genius with an encyclopedic knowledge of the occult; Eduardo, a hip slacker with a crush on Kylie; Garrett, a wheelchair-bound athlete with a hot temper; and Roland, a “gentle giant” who’s a mechanical whiz. It’s only a matter of time before Egon, Janine, old pal Slimer and the “kids” band together to rid the city of evil-doers

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
