Well, you can’t say you weren’t warned… the Fast and Furious franchise is heading to the small screen for the first time in live-action as the final movie in the series prepares to film.

Back in May, Vin Diesel revealed that Peacock was developing four Fast & Furious TV shows, saying: “They wanted us to expand the legacy characters, their stories. And for the last decade, the desire has been for us to enter the TV space that Fallon has mastered. And I had to wait till it was right… It became right when Donna Langley started to oversee it all, because that’s when I knew that the integrity of the characters, the international appeal, what makes us all feel like family, would be protected in the TV space.”

Well, now I can report that the first of the four has been given the green light at Peacock.

Aaaand that’s the whole story. So far.

This isn’t the first time the Fast & Furious franchise has hit the small screen, with the very successful Fast & Furious: Spy Racers animated series lasting six seasons on Netflix, ending in 2021. While that series was canon, featuring Dom Toretto’s (Diesel) nephew, this new series will be a big deal as it’s the first live-action story set in that universe outside of the movies.

This news comes as the franchise celebrates its 25th anniversary and gears up for Fast Froever, the final movie in the core series, starting filming in December.

So, a Fast & Furious live-action series – thoughts? I know you have them, and I wanna hear ’em all.

Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
