FIRST LOOK at The CW’s new Batwoman suit and her new Batmobile

November 3rd, 2020 by Marc Comments

We have our first official look at Javicia Leslie as The CW’s new Batwoman.

The image (above) shows us her character, Ryan Wilder, in the new Batwoman suit from the show’s second season, inherited from first Batwoman Ruby Rose who left after season one.

Word is that, in the show, Ryan will wear the original Batwoman suit before changing to the new (very similar) suit in the third episode.

Showrunner Caroline Dries spoke about the new suit, saying: “Ryan’s journey starts from a place of ‘What can this Batsuit do for me?’ But it’s not long before she realizes the power of its symbol and what it can do for everyone else in Gotham City. As Ryan embraces everything that makes her special, she adjusts the suit to fit her physically and figuratively. This meant creating a new body design and new cowl that was undeniably a statement that screamed ‘powerful’.”

Star Leslie added: “I love the fact that Ryan is becoming her own Batwoman — it’s her style, her swag, and her moment.

“It was an honor to be able to collaborate with Caroline and Maya. I felt it was important that viewers could tell by the silhouette that Batwoman was a Black girl. With the form-fitting suit and beautiful Afro, we definitely nailed it!”

On top of this, images have leaked online of the Batmobile from the series, which is currently filming in Vancouver, which you can see below.

I love that the car is a muscle car and I like the overall look… especially the red (orange?) trim that harkens back to the original TV Batmobile from the 1960s series (inset).

Anyway, are you excited for Batwoman season 2? Let me know your thoughts…

Batwoman returns for its second season early next year.
