After almost fifteen years, Guy Ritchie is finally returning to Baker St, only this time it’s without Robert Downey Jnr or Jude Law.
The first images have been released of Ritchie’s Young Sherlock Prime Video TV series starring Fiennes Tiffin as Sherlock Holmes and Dónal Finn as John Watson James Moriarty! The images also feature Colin Firth as Sir Bucephalus Hodge.
While nothing official has been reported, I am assuming this is the same Holmes played by Downey Jnr in Sherlock Holmes (2009) and Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows (2011), both also directed by Ritchie.
Guy Ritchie out of directing Sherlock Holmes as Dexter Fletcher steps in
Young Sherlock follows the origin story of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s beloved detective in an explosive re-imagining of this iconic character’s early days. Sherlock Holmes is a disgraced young man – raw and unfiltered – when he finds himself wrapped up in a murder case that threatens his liberty.
His first-ever case unravels a globe-trotting conspiracy that changes his life forever. Unfolding in 1870s Oxford and adventuring abroad, the series will expose the early antics of the anarchic adolescent who is yet to evolve into Baker Street’s most renowned resident.
The series, is due to air next year on Amazon Prime Video and also stars Zine Tseng (3 Body Problem), Joseph Fiennes (The Handmaid’s Tale), Natascha McElhone (Halo), and Max Irons (The Wife).
