Here’s the deal, Douglas Adams’ The Hitchhiker’s Guide To The Galaxy series ( in its many formats) is as important to me as Star Wars or Ghostbusters.

However, despite trying several times, I could never get into his Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency books.

I think it’s time to try again as Dirk is about to hit our screens once more thanks to BBS America.

Samuel Barnett and Elijah Wood star (pictured above) as Dirk and his sort of sidekick, Todd.

Screenwriter Max Landis says of Dirk: “He believes that everything is connected and just by living his life, wandering from place to place, he will be able to solve any mystery put in front of him.”

And of Todd: “Todd’s an interesting character. He’s honestly not gung-ho about helping Dirk do anything, much less be his assistant.”

We’re always excited to see anything Douglas Adams related on our screens so we’ll be checking out BBC America on October 22nd when the new series debuts.

Now, will someone please look into bringing The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the small screen again, please? Thanks…

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
