We’ve been hearing for a while that Peter Capaldi’s replacement on Doctor Who may already have been cast (here).. . but now it has come to light that the replacement may indeed have been found.
Former Doctor Who showrunner Russell T Davies, speaking at the LGBT awards (below) was asked if the new Doctor was cast and he replied: “I do know who it is”.
Davies obviously couldn’t reveal who it was but with the Christmas Special filming going into production next week and it being expected to be when Capaldi says goodbye to the role, we’re expecting that an official announcement will be coming.
The BBC has enjoyed broadcasting a TV spot over the past years nearer Christmas to announce the next regeneration of the world’s most famous Timelord, so that may be how it goes this year too…
The replacement will properly take over in series 11, after his regeneration at Christmas, which is expected to air in 2018.
As for how it might happen, scroll on down…
In related news, an interesting new theory has popped up online suggesting that the Doctor has been dying – or been mid-regeneration – for several episodes now and we have to admit, it does make sense…
The Twelfth Doctor died due to oxygen deprivation, and has been regenerating ever since. But Missy’s the only one who knows. #DoctorWho pic.twitter.com/62NWARAVu3
