When it comes to horror films it’s almost certain, at some point, you have at least heard of the 1973 film The Exorcist.

Well Fox seems adamant to return it to our screens. Less than two weeks ago Fox ordered a one-hour pilot for The Exorcist. Now they have taken this further with the announcement of the man who will direct it.

Rupert Wyatt, the director of Rise of the Planet of the Apes, is set to direct the pilot.

The pilot is described as follows: “[It is] a modern reinvention inspired by Blatty’s book — a propulsive, serialized psychological thriller following two very different men tackling one family’s case of horrifying demonic possession, and confronting the face of true evil.”

It isn’t clear exactly when this one hour pilot will air and Fox hasn’t given much in what will happen and who will be in it. It’s likely these will be released in the coming weeks.

If the pilot is anything like the cult success of the film, then this will certainly be one to watch out for in future.
