It looks like Gotham is set to dip its toes into the Joker pond again.

We had the superb story arc based around Jerome at the start of Season 2 – yes, i said superb, deal with it – and at the end of that it was hinted that Joker’s lunacy was a virus, a contagious condition that almost anyone could catch. And now it looks like someone else who has caught it is set to cause trouble for Jim Gordon and the meant of GCPD.

The image above was released by FOX and is from episode 2.14 – This Ball of Mud and Meanness – and features Lori Petty – she of Tank Girl and Point Break fame – as what looks to be a female Joker.

We love that Petty is a possible Joker! We’re confident she’s not THE Joker but will become part of his legacy on the show.

We’ll be tuning in… will you?

“Alfred and Selina help Bruce on his quest to find his parents’ killer, Matches Malone (guest star Michael Bowen). Meanwhile, Gordon follows up with Edward Nygma on Kristen Kringle’s whereabouts and Hugo Strange (guest star BD Wong) continues his treatment to reduce Penguin’s aggression.”

Gotham stars Ben McKenzie as Detective James Gordon, Donal Logue as Harvey Bullock, Michael Chiklis as Detective Nathaniel Barnes, Sean Pertwee as Alfred, Robin Lord Taylor as Oswald Cobblepot/The Penguin, Erin Richards as Barbara Kean, David Mazouz as Bruce Wayne, Camren Bicondova as Selina Kyle/the future Catwoman, Cory Michael Smith as Edward Nygma/the future Riddler, James Frain as Theo Galavan, Jessica Lucas as Tabitha Galavan, Chris Chalk as Lucius Fox, Nicholas D’Agosto as Harvey Dent, Zabryna Guevara as Captain Sarah Essen.

“This Ball of Mud and Meanness” is set to air Monday, March 14 on FOX. If you’ve missed any of the new episodes of Gotham or just need a refresher, be sure to check out our weekly recaps by clicking here.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
