Harley Quinn animated series gets Kiteman spinoff series

May 8th, 2022 by Marc Comments

Great news for fans of HBO Max’s superb Harley Quinn animated series as one of the most hilarious characters from it is getting his own spinoff series.

The show, which originally kicked off on the DC Universe streaming service, stars The Big Bang Theory’s Kaley Cuoco as a surprisingly brilliant Harley with Lake Bell as the Poison Ivy, is a very adult, very fun show that, until Peacemaker, was my favourite bit of DC TV in quite some time.

But now we learn that Kite Man will front a new series with his new love interest [after leaving Ivy] Golden Glider as the duo buys Noonan’s, the seedy bar that is frequented by Gotham’s lowest scum and villains. It has a ten-episode order with the possibility of more down the line.

Kiteman will, once again, be voiced by actor Matt Oberg, reprising the role from the Harley series.

Suzanna Makkos, executive vice president of original comedy and adult animation for HBO Max and Adult Swim, said: “We love the wild and fun world of Harley Quinn so much we just had to make a spin-off and who better to center it around than the outcast Kite Man.”

Peter Girardi, executive vice president of alternative programming for Warner Bros. Animation, added: “Harley Quinn unlocked a world of hilarious possibilities with the iconic Super Heroes and Super-Villains of the DC Universe. Exploring this world further with our partners at HBO Max and DC is going to be a lot of fun. Plus, after getting dumped by Poison Ivy, the least we could do was give Kite Man his own show.”

It’ll be tough to be as good as the Harley Quinn series, but we at FTN like to remain positive and optimistic, so we’re hoping for another cracking show as we wait patiently for Harley’s return with season three which will follow her and Ivy after their glorious hooking up in season 2.
