Has The Flash Season 5’s big-bad been revealed?

With The Flash Season 4 wrapping last night, we’re all wondering who – or what – Barry and Co will be facing next season and we may know if the rumours from That Hashtag Show are accurate.

Remember these guys broke the news this time last year that the villain for Season 4 would be The Thinker with The Elongated Man playing a part, so we can pretty much rely on this info. Probably.

The show is casting “Desmond Paull,” an open ethnicity role for a man in his 40s. “Desmond” is a metahuman who, after a mysterious interaction with dark matter, was given not only immortality but also the gift to disable other meta-human powers. He blames metas for everything that has gone wrong in his life and because of that, his mission is to wipe Central City free of them in order to silence his own anguish. Whoever gets cast as “Desmond”, he would be a one year fractional series regular.

They go on to speculate that this is actually David Hersch a.k.a. Cicada!

In the comics Cicada killed his wife and was then struck by lightning, leaving him with the ability to absorb the life-force of other metas, meaning he could live for a very looooooong time.

He also believed that he was destined to save his wife some day and this led him to (hey, comics!) create a cult where he and his followers started killing people The Flash saved because he believed that he and The Flash were connected due to the bolt of lightning creation… will it be the same event that created The Flash? Word is it will NOT be.

We’re also hearing that Harrison Wells will be back and, as is becoming the tradition, it will be a different version of Wells than the ones we’ve met so far.

So another season, another non-speedster villain? Count us in…

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
