HBO Max and JJ Abrams kick start Justice League Dark universe with Madame Xanadu series

June 27th, 2021 by Marc Comments

We know that HBO Max and JJ Abrams are developing a Justice League Dark universe (here) and now it seems they’re going the Avengers route and giving us standalone shows first, before giving is a team-up show.

Madame Xanadu is the first character in the spotlight for a standalone series, with True Blood’s Angela Robinson penning a one-hour series hoping to get the greenlight to move ahead.

Xanadu in the comics, real name Nimue Inwundu, is an immortal sorceress who advised King Arthur and now fights in the shadows for the side of good.

Interestingly, when DC Universe was planing a similar universe, Xanadu already appeared in the Swamp Thing series, played by Jeryl Prescott… it’s unlikely this will pick up from there, which is a pity because, while the series hit the ropes hard, it started off very strong and promised characters like Blue Devil and Etrigan the Demon.

So, a new start for the Justice League Dark, then. What say you all? Are you looking forward to this? Did you like DC Universe’s Swamp Thing? Let me know what you all think, folks…
