Earlier today we reported that HBO Max have given a darker take on Batman a series order with Batman: Caped Crusader (here) and now it’s Superman’s turn, it seems.
The new series will be called My Adventures with Superman and will star The Boys’ Jack Quaid as the Man of Steel and it has been awarded a two-season run for now.
However, unlike Batman: Caped Crusader, this show will seem to skewer towards a lighter tone, as can be seen by the art style above, with the Last Son of Krypton, focusing on a young Clark Kent and Lois Lane.
The series is being produced by Warner Bros. Animation and based on characters from DC Comics as it follows Clark Kent, Lois Lane (Alice Lee), and their best friend Jimmy Olsen early in their careers.
All are twenty-somethings that begin to discover who they are and everything they can accomplish together as an investigative reporting team at the Daily Planet.
Clark builds his secret Superman identity and embraces his role as the hero of Metropolis. Lois, now growing into a star investigative journalist, takes aspiring photographer Jimmy under her wing.
At the same time Clark and Lois are falling in love, sharing adventures, taking down bad guys, stumbling over secrets, and discovering what it means to be Superman and Lois Lane.
Sam Register serves as executive producer. Jake Wyatt and Brendan Clogher are on board as co-executive producers and Josie Campbell as co-producer.
It’s good to see that HBO Max are dedicated to the DC brand… let’s just hope they can keep the quality high.
Thoughts? Let me hear them.
