Reeves, Abrams and Timm developing new Batman: Caped Crusader noir animated series

May 19th, 2021 by Marc Comments

Good news for Batman fans tonight as HBO Max has send a new animated series straight to series order.

Batman: Caped Crusader will be exec-produced by film-makers JJ Abrams, Matt Reeves and Batman: The Animated Series co-creator Bruce Timm but most exciting is the tone the series will take.

According to the official announcement, ‘The series will be thrilling, cinematic and evocative of Batman’s noir roots, while diving deeper into the psychology of these iconic characters.’

Given the poster that was released, we are likely to get a Batman series unlike any we have seen before that harkens back to the 1950s serial adventure feel.

While many are complaining because having JJ Abrams involved in Batman isn’t a welcome development, given how divisive his time on Star Trek and Star Wars was, it’s the involvement of Bruce Timm I’m most excited for she was responsible for how Batman has developed over the last three decades as well as some of the character’s most iconic stories and characters.

Anyways, are you excited? I want to hear your thoughts, gang.
