Is Star Wars Rebels set to come to an end at the end of this season?

February 22nd, 2017 by Paddy Comments

Is Star Wars: Rebels coming to an end? It’s looking likely according to online chatter among the online fan community.

It might not necessarily come as a shock given how quickly the series has been moving, not to mention the events of the recently released movie Rogue One.

If it doesn’t come as a shock though it will certainly come as a disappointment but it’s already been reported that Dave Filoni is working on another animated series set in the SWU.

Dork Side Of The Force reports: “As TVWeb notes, Rebels was renewed in November of 2015 for season 3. Logically, a renewal for season 4 should have come at a similar time in 2016. But it didn’t.

“So, is season 3 Rebels’ last?

“It looks likely. The writing has been on the wall since we first learned that Rebels would be set between Revenge and Hope. That essentially left both Rebels and Rogue One with expiration dates, as you can’t easily begin running shows concurrently with films that have already occurred. If Rebels ends with some sort of showdown with Thrawn, the upcoming Star Wars Celebration in April would be the perfect time to announce both the end of Rebels. SWCO would also be an ideal venue for the announcement of the launch of a new Star Wars animated series, which Rebels creator Dave Filoni is reportedly working on.”

We’re really loving Rebels right now, especially after the release of Rogue One and we hope there’s nothing to this report.

Paddy Ryan, like Buck Rogers, is a man out of time. He's a loose cannon haunted by his past who, when he's not making painful attempts at humour, is busy watching as many geeky films and TV shows as possible. An avid reader, he has vowed one day to start that novel he's been talking about for years. Born in the late 70s, he's an 80s kid at heart who sees nothing wrong with spending hours upon hours watching season three of Robin Of Sherwood. Jason Connery wasn't that bad you know! He's got a million ideas for comic books but thankfully doesn't know anyone with the time to draw them and call his bluff on that one! The Empire Strikes Back is his favourite film, Doctor Who is his TV show of choice and when it comes to books ... well that's a whole other story! I'm Paddy Ryan and you're not...
