Quite a while ago we had heard rumours that Disney were planning on making a Darth Vader TV movie but it quickly dwindled. However, if this new rumour is true then it would make sense…

CEO Robert Iger [Disney already controls ABC, ESPN, The Disney Channel and others] has hinted that Disney might launch channels based around two of the biggest – if not THE biggest two – franchises on the planet… Star Wars and Marvel.

The Daily Finance have reported that Iger said: “We have said that with these channels and these brands — ESPN, ABC, Disney, maybe even down the road something related to Star Wars and Marvel — we do have an ability as a company to take product, specifically filmed entertainment, television, movies, directly to consumers.”

In fairness, it’s not the clearest quote on the planet, but it certainly points to Disney considering making a channel specifically for Star Wars and Marvel programming, including some new programme and maybe movies (Darth Vader, anyone?) so we’ll be following this development with great interest…

Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife.
