Is Wrath of Khan writer/director working on a Khan prequel series?

July 31st, 2017 by Marc 1 Comment

A while ago we reported that Star Trek II: Wrath of Khan writer/director Nicholas Meyer was working on a ‘mystery’ Star Trek project.

Widely regarded as one of Trek’s greatest movement, Khan is still an iconic character in sci-fi – even to the point that Star Trek: Into Darkness tried to retell the story with Benedict Cumberbatch in the role originally played by Ricardo Montalban (above), although it was met with, well let’s just say, mixed reviews.

Meyer has recently been working on Star Trek: Discovery but now we’re hearing that his new project will explore the origins of Khan:

Meyer will reportedly be developing a prequel miniseries, or limited series that would take place on Ceti Alpha V and chronicle Khan and his followers struggling to survive in the years between when Kirk dropped him off on the planet at the end of [classic series episode] “Space Seed” and when the crew of the U.S.S. Reliant finds them early in The Wrath of Khan.

Interesting, huh?

Would you be interested in more exploration of the character or do you think less known the better?

We want to hear from you guys…

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
