Jeffrey Dean Morgan: “Negan is back for The Walking Dead Season 8!”

This season of The Walking Dead is certainly more a story about Negan rather than the zombies. Since Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s introduction to the series there has been a massive reaction to his character and his actions.

And unfortunately Morgan has recently confirmed that his character WILL be returning for season 8. I say unfortunately because I don’t know how much more of him we can handle.

“I know I will be on board for Season 8,” Morgan said. “We’ve finished [Season 7] a week ago.”

Negan was responsible for the controversial death that was finally revealed in season 7, episode 1. Audience knowledge of the death was kept under lock and key. Speaking on the Howard Stern Show, Morgan explained how they tried to trick anyone who wanted to leak the death beforehand.

“I did kill shots on the entire cast. I think the plan was they would leak some stuff beforehand just to throw people off because there are people whose sole purpose is to ruin the show, to spoil what’s going to happen on the show.”

It’s a clever idea, killing everyone so that no one knows who actually died. It certainly helped in protecting the secret. Many shows have done similar things, either not letting an actor know something the others do, or having multiple endings and only choosing the ‘right’ one on the editing room floor.

We don’t yet know what season 8 Negan will do but if it is anything like season 7 I think we will be hearing a lot more about him.

Season 7 of The Waking Dead will continue on 13th February 2017 after its winter break.
