Jeph Loeb leaving Marvel TV as Hulu cancels Cloak and Dagger

October 25th, 2019 by Marc Comments

It looks like Kevin Feige being given creative control over Marvel/MCU TV may already be being felt.

We speculated last week that now that Kevin Feige was given creative control over the movies and now TV shows set in the MCU that we would see all the satelitte shows ie ABC, Hulu, Freeform, might end up being pulled with Disney+ the eventual home of all new Marvel TV and films.

And here we are.

Last night it was revealed that Marvel’s head of TV Jeph Loeb is expected to stand down now that Feige has complete control.

Loeb was the man behind the Netflix Marvel shows and Cloak and Dagger on Freeform.

We know the Netflix shows are gone and now we know Cloak & Dagger, starring Olivia Holt, Aubrey Joseph, Emma Lahana and Ally Maki, is now gone after season 2 too.

“We are so proud of Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger and the trailblazing stories this series told,” Freeform said in a statement. ”

We are also grateful to our incredible talent Olivia Holt and Aubrey Joseph for bringing these beloved characters to life, and showrunner Joe Pokaski for his vision. We’d like to thank our partners at Marvel Television for a wonderful two seasons and are we are hopeful that we can find another project together.”

We’ll be looking closely at Hulu’s The Runaways and the upcoming Helstrom – remember Ghost Rider was cancelled there before it began – as well as the upcoming animated shows (under the control of Kevin smith) in the near future as they were all developed under Loeb, so there’s a good chance the axe could yet fall.

Would you like to see all Marvel shows in one place? And do you want that one place to be a streaming service? LEt me know your thoughts…
