Let the Game commence! Again!

Yes, the casting for Game of Thrones Season 7 new faces has begun… and it has begun in style as acting legend Jim Broadbent signs on.

Star of such classics as Time Bandits, Brazil and Harry Potter, Broadbent is still a genuine delight to watch, no matter what he’s doing, so we’re hoping he’ll not pop up for five minutes and die horribly, never to be seen again.

We mean, it’s ok if his character dies horribly – it IS Game of Thrones after all – but let’s have a few weeks with him first.

But we’re hearing his will be a significant role so we’re expecting much speculating and rumours over the coming weeks and months, although one we’re hearing – and liking – is that there’ll be more flashbacks to the Tower of Joy and beyond and we may see him as the Mad King, Aerys Targaryen.

Now, we doubt it, but isn’t it fun to guess? Yes, yes it is…

As we said already, let the Game commence.

Thoughts on his casting or who he’ll play? Let us know…

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
