John Wick series The Continental will release this year and we know where to watch

January 8th, 2023 by Marc Comments

Another cool bit of John Wick-related news today as we know that spin-off limited series The Continental will be aired sometime this year and we know where.

After the news that Ana DeArmas’ Rooney will fight John Wick in the first spin-off movie, Ballerina (here), we now know that having John Wick 4 release this March will be far from the end of the John Wick goodness this year.

The three-part series, starring The Flight Attendant’s Colin Woodell as a young version of Ian McShane’s Winston Scott and Mel Gibson as new addition to the series, Cormac, will be distributed in the US by Peacock and everywhere else (excluding Middle East and Israel) will get it on Amazon Prime. And yes, it’s confirmed for 2023.

The series will tell the origins of The Continental hotel chain, the haven of hired killers all over the world and one of the most fascinating parts of the Wick universe.

Major John Wick game at planning stage

“The John Wick films have created one of the most immersive, detailed and enjoyable universes we’ve seen on screen in the last decade,” said Chris Mansolillo, Director, Content Acquisition, Prime Video.

“We are extremely proud to play a part in continuing to build that universe, offering viewers an insight into the origins of the infamous Continental Hotel and its incredible characters.”

Lionsgate President of Worldwide Television Distribution Jim Packer said that “The Continental promises to be one of the major streaming events of 2023, and it will be a perfect fit for Prime Video’s global audience as the John Wick franchise continues to grow”.

As well as Woodell and Gibson – who we can’t wait to see in this world – the series will star Peter Greene as Uncle Charlie, Katie McGrath as The Adjudicator, Ray McKinnon as Jenkins, Adam Shapiro as Lemmy, Mark Musashi as Hansel, Marina Mazepa as Gretel, Ayomide Adegun as Charon and Ben Robson as Frankie. The Book of Eli’s Albert Hughes will direct.

We cannot get enough of the John Wick Universe here at FTN HQ, so we’ll be looking forward to getting a release date on this one for sure.

John Wick (Keanu Reeves) uncovers a path to defeating The High Table. But before he can earn his freedom, Wick must face off against a new enemy with powerful alliances across the globe and forces that turn old friends into foes.

The movie stars Keanu Reeves, Donnie Yen, Bill Skarsgård, Laurence Fishburne, Hiroyuki Sanada, Shamier Anderson, Lance Reddick, Rina Sawayama, Scott Adkins, and Ian McShane.

John Wick Chapter 4 opens on March 24th, 2023

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
