Last June we reported that Kevin Bacon was coming back for a ten part Tremors TV series and we were all very excited. Then… nothing.
Until, that is, now. Almost a year to the day, Bacon is back talking giant worms and confirming that a Pilot episode is coming from Syfy
“We are going to do a pilot for Syfy,” said Bacon at the Edinburgh International Film Festival; the series will be produced by Blumhouse CEO Jason Blum, whose horror credits include Paranormal Activity and Insidious – the original idea was to bring Tremors back as a new movie but it soon became a TV show instead.
“It’s [Valentine McKee] the only character I’ve ever played that I was interested in exploring 25 years later,” Bacon said.
“I don’t go back and watch my movies but because we were doing this one, I had to go back and look at it. It’s just the idea of this loser who is living a very ordinary life and has an extraordinary experience with these monsters and becomes, for a moment, a hero.”
Bacon confirmed the reboot will pick up 25 years after the original movie and look at Valentine’s life after his brief time as a hero. The actor also confirmed that, with shows like Game of Thrones, being on TV now is not only acceptable but desirable for actors… does this mean we’ll get more Temors not he small screen? Who knows… but either way, the hype starts here!
