I have the poooooooowerrrrrrrrr!

Great news tonight as nerd icon Kevin smith has revealed at Power-Con in Anaheim that he is working with Netflix on a new anime series called Masters of the Universe: Revelation.

Smith will serve as the executive producer and showrunner on the limited series which will continue the stories and plots left open from the original 1980s animated series.

“I’m Eternia-ly grateful to Mattel TV and Netflix for entrusting me with not only the secrets of Grayskull, but also their entire universe,” said Smith.

“In Revelation, we pick up right where the classic era left off to tell an epic tale of what may be the final battle between He-Man and Skeletor! Brought to life with the most metal character designs Powerhouse Animation can contain in the frame, this is the Masters of the Universe story you always wanted to see as a kid!”

The show will revolve around Teela, who must attempt to find the missing Sword of Power and unlock the hidden secrets of Castle Grayskull. This will lead up to, according to Smith, “what may be the final battle between He-Man and Skeletor.”

There are no words to explain how exciting this is to a child of the 80s like myself… here’s hoping Smith can capture the sly humour, excitement and fun of the original series.

Who am I kidding? Of course he can!

By the power of Grayskull!
