Kiernan Shipka’s Sabrina set for Riverdale crossover in season 6

October 7th, 2021 by Marc Comments

We’ve been reporting ever since 2018 (here) that we could see a crossover between Netflix’s now canceled Chilling Adventures of Sabrina and The CW’s Riverdale.

In the comics, the two intertwine quite a lot and we kept hearing rumours that this was set to happen on the small screen too… alas, it never happened.

However, now it is set to happen.

Netflix pulled the plug on Sabrina after two seasons (here) but there was always teases that the two worlds co-existed. Now, however, there can be no doubt.

Riverdale’s sixth season’s fourth episode will be called The Witching Hour(s) and it’s here that actress Kiernan Shipka will appear.

In a new interview, Riverdale showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa said: “We’ve been talking about having Sabrina visit Riverdale since season 1, so it’s thrilling that this is finally happening, as part of our ‘Rivervale’ special event.

“It’s also perfect that she shows up to help Cheryl Blossom during her hour of greatest need. Everyone on set lost their minds — I think fans will, too. It’s really fun and special.”

The episode description says: Cheryl (Madelaine Petsch) is performing a dangerous spell, one that may mean the difference between life and death for a beloved member of the Blossom family. Luckily, she’s getting a much-needed assist from everybody’s favorite 20-something witch, the iconic Sabrina Spellman (Shipka), visiting from Greendale in this years-in-the-making crossover.

Shipka shared the below image on social media:

Aguirre-Sacasa had previously teased that a crossover was planned for comic book form.

Of course, there’s also the fact that – spoilers – Sabrina died in the Netflix series… but, hey, comics and TV shows, anything can happen, right?

Anyways, you know we’re a sucker for a good crossover here at FTN HQ.
