King Kong and Tomb Raider animated shows in development

January 28th, 2021 by Marc Comments

It looks like King Kong Vs Godzilla isn’t the only expansion the Monsterverse is getting as Netflix has signed on to bring two big franchises to the small screen.

NEtflix and Legendary Televison have struck a deal to create an animated series based on Kong’s home, Skull Island, which will be made by Castlevania’s Powerhouse Animation.

It will be by Underwater’s Brian Duffield and will be based around the events of 2017’s Kong: Skull Island, so it’s definitely canon to the current movies.

It will follow a bunch of shipwrecked characters trying to get off Skull Island and dealing with Kong and a host of monsters, indigenous people and more.

However, on top of this, Tomb Raider is getting its first animated series too. The series will follow Lara after the recent video game trilogy which rebooted and reintroduced the character and it’s by The Witcher: Blood Origins Tasha Huo – it seems the series, unlike the Skull Island one, is not connected to the Tomb Raider movies.

That’s all we have for now but we’ll keep you posted as we get more.
