Kurt and Wyatt Russell join Godzilla and Titans series

The Monsterverse is set to get bigger by getting smaller as it heads to the small screen! And it’s bringing one of Hollywood’s coolest father and son acts with it.

Yes, Apple TV+’s upcoming series Godzilla and Titans series has scored FTN favourite Kurt Russell and his son Wyatt Russell, below, who are both stars of the MCU too. The duo will star alongside Anna Sawai, Ren Watabe, Kiersey Clemons, Joe Tippett and Elisa Lasowski.

The Monsterverse is the collective name for 2014’s Godzilla, 2017’s Kong: Skull Island, 2019’s Godzilla: King of the Monsters and 2021’s Godzilla vs Kong and this new series marks its first adventure on the small screen. An animated Skull Island series is also being developed (here).

The show’s synopsis reads: Following the battle between Godzilla and the Titans that leveled San Francisco and the new reality that monsters are real, the untitled series will explore one family’s journey to uncover its buried secrets and a legacy linking them to the secret organization known as Monarch.

WandaVision’s Matthew Shakman will direct the first two episodes.

I’m a sucker for a good shared universe and I’d certainly say I’m a fan of the Monsterverse even though no movie in it so far has really blown me away but rather they all sit firmly in the ‘not bad’ file, however, with another entry, Son of Kong, in development along with this and the animated series, it looks like ‘not bad’ is good enough… although we hope that Kurt Russell’s presence can elevate the whole thing. It usually does.

Thoughts? Let me hear them all, gang.
