With the Netflix Marvel universe now in full flight, we have an idea of who Luke Cage, played by Mike Coulter, will fight in the new series…

Images have popped up online thanks to Superherohype and they clearly show who we have to assume is the villain of the piece.

The images (above and below) shows Cage fighting Diamondback AKA Willis Stryker as played by Boardwalk Empire’s Erik LaRay Harvey.

According to the site: “Diamondback shares a name with a number of other Marvel villains, but this version of the character [was] A childhood friend of Luke’s, Stryker frames him for a drug charge when they’re young, which results in Luke being sent to prison.

“After a sabotaged experiment leaves him with super strength and unbreakable skin, Luke Cage becomes a fugitive trying to rebuild his life in modern day Harlem, New York City. But he is soon pulled out of the shadows and must fight a battle for the heart of his city–forcing him to confront a past he had tried to bury.”

So we’re guessing it’s safe to say the Luke Cage series will delve into Cage and how he became the character we’ve already met in the Jessica Jones series.

Luke Cage will star Mike Coulter as Cage, Simone Missick as Misty Knight, Frank Whaley as Rafael Scarfe, Mahershala Ali as Cottonmouth, Theo Rossi as Shades, Alfre Woodard as Mariah Dillard, and the return of Rosario Dawson as Claire Temple.

It will be on Netflix from September 30th.

What do you think of the character? We think he looks just a little silly and we really like that! You?
