LeVar Burton confirms Geordi La Forge set for future season of Star Trek: Picard

It looks like the fans of Star Trek: Picard have more familiar faces popping up in season 2 (or later) if all goes to plan.

Star Trek: The Next Generation star LeVar Burton, who plays Geordi La Forge, has confirmed that he is indeed set to appear in the show’s following years.

He will presumably be joined by Whoopi Goldberg who was asked last year if she’d be keen to come back as Guinan (here).

Burton has said he was approached by producer Alex Kurtzman.

“How do I say this without getting in trouble?” he ponders.

“I think that is reasonable to assume that those people are still a part of Picard’s life and — sure, what the hell — yeah, absolutely! You’ll see us all, probably not all at the same time but, you know, never say never.”

LaForge is of course the blind member of the USS Enterprise crew who uses a visor to see, he is also chief engineer and a major part of the team from The Next Generation.

Burton isn’t the first classic star to return with, obviously, Patrick Stewart being the lead as Jean-Luc Picard but in the show’s first season we saw the return of Brent Spiner as Commander Data, Jonathan Del Arco as Hugh the Borg,  Jeri Ryan as Seven of Nine, Marina Sirtis as Commander Deanna Troi and Jonathan Frakes as Riker, so it looks like the endgame is to bring back as many familiar faces as possible… gotta have those ‘member-berries.

What say you all about the return of classic faces? Let me know nerds and nerdettes…

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
