Marvel announces Black Panther: Eyes of Wakanda animated show, coming this year

If you’re a fan of the Black Panther and Wakanda corner of the MCU then 2024 is your year.

With the winding down of Marvel’s What If…? season 2 (which was superb) just before New Year, Disney/Marvel have officially revealed a new animated series set in the main MCU, entitled Black Panther: Eyes of Wakanda.

So what do we know so far? Well, very little except:

Throughout Wakandan history, brave warriors have been tasked to travel the world retrieving dangerous vibranium artifacts. This is their story.

While we tragically lost original Black Panther actor Chadwick Boseman in August 2020 and saw Letitia Wright step up to become the MCU’s new Black Panther, Shuri, in the second movie, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, it would certainly seem that this series will not be focused on either of them but rather on Black Panthers that have come and gone over the years, during Wakanda’s long history in the MCU.

Thoughts? I know you have them! Voice-off in the usual ways on FTN’s FacebookTwitterInstagramYoutube, Bluesky,

With the MCU focusing on the past more and more with their movies, there’s certainly an opportunity for us to meet characters that are familiar but from a different era than the first Avengers… perhaps Panther has met Captain Marvel, a previous Sorceror Supreme or what about Wolverine? The possibilities are definitely exciting, although it’s also possible that Marvel will see this as a story set away from all that and focused on the secretive Wakanda alone.

Either way, we love to see a universe explored and expanded in animation (and any other available medium), so we’ll be checking this out for sure.

Eyes of Wakanda is due sometime in 2024.
