Massive blunder sees release of The Name Of The Doctor over a week early…

May 13th, 2013 by Marc Comments

As we all sit anxiously awaiting next week’s episode of Doctor Who, the finale of 50 years, the teasingly titled The Name Of The Doctor, some of our very lucky friends in the USA got their hands on the episode already, thanks to a very silly gaff…

Yes, the Blu-ray release of Doctor Who Series 7 Part 2 was accidentally delivered to fans in the US this weekend past. Oops…

In light of the mix-up, Edward Russell, BBC Brand Manager for Doctor Who, tweeted: Production error in US means DW bluray shipped early. Let’s hope no one spoils it for those who want to enjoy it together on Sat. Please RT.

Doctor Who’s official BBC Twitter also pleaded with those who have now seen the episode to keep the spoilers to themselves – some people have waited 50 years for this and it would be simply awful for them to have everything spoiled by fans online after all – they said: Some US DVDs of this series have gone out early. The #DoctorWho team would be hugely grateful if fans helped keep spoilers off the net.

The official Twitter also promised: Steven Moffat has promised if fans help keep the finale’s secrets, we’ll release a special video featuring Matt & David right after the ep!

We at FTN have no problem with spoilers, in fact we usually embrace them, but on this occasion we plead with anyone on here who has seen it – and we feel confident some of you will have –  please, please, PLEASE, keep these ones quiet.

Some people have waited a very, very long time – curiously enough, up to 50 years – for this and for that to be spoiled by a silly mix up? Well, there’d be no justice. By all means, if you have received it, watch it and enjoy… but wait for the rest of us to catch up on Saturday night.

Spoilers aren’t cool…

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
