Michael Keaton’s Batman will have a very cool (sort of) appearance in The CW’s Crisis on Infinite Earths

There’s no point in lying, but ever since the whole Crisis on Infinite Earths event was announced, we here at FTN HQ have had a few we hoped we’d see in it, but as long as that list was, we all had one constant top place… Michael Keaton’s Bruce Wayne/Batman.

Now, while we’re hearing Keaton will not be in the series – well, what did we really expect? – it does look like his Batman incarnation WILL get a nod.

This image has appeared from the Vancouver set of the series:

Now, this is, well, awesome… but it also is a few other things.

Firstly, it seems that this pretty much confirms that, while they seemed to be continuations, Batman Forever and, ugh, Batman & Robin were not continuations of the Burton movies after all.

It also means – and this is pretty cool – that Keaton’s Bruce Wayne married Michelle Pfeiffer’s Selina Kyle/Catwoman, so with just this manufactured newspaper front page, we almost get the closure on Burton’s Batman movies,

Also, it’ll be interesting to see how this will tie into the crossover – will they just visit the Earth of Burton movies for this image? Or will it tie in in another way? I’m hearing rumours that this Batman may be the Batman from The CW’s 2002 Birds of Prey series, since we know Ashley Scott, who played Huntress in that show, is back for this crossover too.

Whatever the link –  if there even is one – this is a very cool development.

Thoughts?

Crisis on Infinite Earths kicks off Sunday, December 8th on Supergirl, then continues with a Monday episode of Batwoman and that Tuesday’s The Flash. After a month-long holiday break, it concludes with the Jan. 14 episode of Arrow and a special instalment of Legends of Tomorrow.
