Following on from the news that Obi-Wan Kenobi himself, Ewan McGregor, might be joining Hayden Christensen and Arian Greenblatt as Anakin skywalker and young Ahsoka in Ahsoka season 2, it looks like another Star Wars prequels icon is set to come over to season 2.
Yes, word is that Natalie Portman, Queen Padmé Amidala herself, is set to return as Padmé in the new season.
According to Star Wars News Network: Dave Filoni has been pushing hard to bring Portman back into the Star Wars fold… he believes the two sides are close to reaching a deal.
This is big news if it turns out to be true as the last time Portman appeared in the galaxy far, far away was at the end of 2005’s Revenge of the Sith when she gave birth to Luke and Leia before dying herself.
Yes, it’s 20 years since Padmé died on screen.
Man, I’m old.
How she will return – if she does – is anyone’s guess, but my guess is that we’re going to see a flashback to the Clone Wars that will see Padmé, Anakin, Ahsoka and Kenobi piecing together part of the story relevant to Ahsoka season 2.
Also, I cannot help be feel that if they’re going to all this hassle, are they perhaps testing the water to see how fans will embrace a potential Clone Wars live-action movie or series? Honestly, have these four involved, get Temuerra Morrison in to play Rex and Cody and all the other clones and they will absolutely have the fans on their side which, after the reported failure of Skeleton Crew, they really need.
What say you all? Would you like to see Padmé back in Star Wars, played once again by Natalie Portman? Or is that a silly question? Let me know all your thoughts, guys…
