We reported back in February (here) that Tim Burton was developing his first TV series with Netflix and it was to focus on Wednesday Addams from The Addams Family and be called simply Wednesday.
At the time we had no casting news – although the rumour that Christina Ricci is being sought for the role of Morticia is just too good to go away – it seems that series has found its titular, em, anti-heroine.
Yes Day star Jenna Ortega has signed on to to play the eldest Addams child in the highly anticipated series which will be show-run by Smallville’s Al Gough and Miles Millar and will follow an older Wednesday finding her place in the world and going to Nevermore Academy.
‘She attempts to master her emerging psychic ability, thwart a monstrous local town killing spree, and solve a supernatural mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago – all while navigating her new and very tangled relationships at Nevermore.’
And that’s all we know for now and it’s expected that many of the cast are being sought to be played by Hispanic actors.
Let me know your thoughts, gang…
